The Kumar family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, from Seattle in July 2008, embarking on a new adventure in the desert. Sixteen years later, Chris’s Water & Ice has become a beloved staple in the Ahwatukee Foothills community, known for its refreshing ice, water, and delicious ice cream.
Rocky Kumar always dreamed of becoming a small business owner, and with Chris’s Water & Ice, that dream came true. It has been a family endeavor from the start, with the kids helping and learning the ins and outs of the business. “It’s been wonderful watching our children be part of our business and learn so much,” says Rocky.
To celebrate 16 successful years, Chris’s Water & Ice is offering a special treat to the community. This Thursday, July 4th, starting at 9 AM, the first 50 customers will receive a free red, white, and blue sno-cone!
“We want to share our happiness with our community,” says Sangeeta Kumar. “We love seeing our loyal customers and hope to see some new faces, too.”
And, of course, we had to ask the Kumars about their favorite ice cream and treats. Here’s what they shared:

- Sangeeta Kumar: Favorite Ice Cream – Chocolate Malted Crunch. Favorite Treat – Snickers bar.
- Aarzoo Kumar: Favorite Ice Cream – Cookies and Cream. Favorite Treat – Tiger Blood and Blue Hawaiian sno-cone with creme.
- Rishik Kumar: Favorite Snack – Gushers candy with chamoy and tajin.
