In every community, there are people we come across and build friendships with. These people become a part of our daily lives and routines, leaving behind legacies of dedication and service. Javiel Leon, or “Javi,” embodies this spirit through his 43-year career at Fry’s. Starting in 1981 in the meat department, Javi worked in various roles—from dairy to receiving and night management—before becoming a cherished cashier clerk.

For the past 22 years, Javi has been a familiar face at Fry’s Marketplace in Ahwatukee. His warm smile and strong work ethic brightened your mornings. As he bid farewell on his last day, the community gathered to celebrate his contributions and share heartfelt memories.

We shared a posting in our Ahwatukee411 Facebook group,  A411er member, Heather Moore shared on Facebook, “Congratulations on your retirement Javiel!!! I’m going to miss your friendly smile at self-checkout. Man, it’s going to be different not seeing you at Fry’s anymore! Have lots of fun and enjoy your retirement, you earned it!” Chef Bridget Quijano of Bibi’s Kitchen also shared the joys, “Congrats!! I loved seeing him every morning when I was always there.”

Javi shared heartfelt gratitude for his coworkers and customers, treasuring the conversations, laughter, and connections they shared,Javi expressed deep gratitude for his coworkers and loyal customers, valuing the friendships, laughter, and connections built over the years. “I’ll miss my coworkers and shoppers dearly. They were like family to me,” Javi shared warmly. Looking forward, Javi plans to focus on home projects and enjoy some well-deserved travel and relaxation.

As Javi embarks on this new chapter, we extend our heartfelt wishes for his continued joy and fulfillment. Thank you, Javi, for leaving our community an unforgettable legacy of kindness and dedication. Your impact at Fry’s and in Ahwatukee will be cherished and remembered fondly by all who know you!
