Returning to Ahwatukee Park this Saturday and Sunday, March 9th and 10th, this year’s cook-off promises a flavorful twist that’s sure to tantalize your taste buds.
New Twist: Veggie Category For the first time ever, chili cooks will have the opportunity to compete in a “veggie” category alongside the traditional red, chili verde, and homestyle varieties. This exciting addition opens up the competition to a whole new world of flavors and creativity.
Competition and Tastings: Chili enthusiasts from Ahwatukee and beyond will battle it out for a chance to earn a spot at the International Chili Society’s world championships. The public can join in the fun by sampling chili creations on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., then casting their votes for the People’s Choice award.
Admission and Charity: Admission and parking are free, with tasting kits available for purchase at $7 for seven tastes and a ballot. Proceeds from the event go to support the Kiwanis Club of Ahwatukee and the Ahwatukee Little League, benefiting the local community.
Carnival Fun: In addition to the chili cook-offs, the carnival will be in full swing, offering entertainment for all ages. From Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, enjoy thrilling rides, live music, and classic carnival treats. Beer, wine, hard seltzer, and soft drinks will also be available for purchase.
