World Atlatl Day at S’edav Va’aki Museum

In honor of 602 Day weekend, the S’edav Va’aki Museum invites families and individuals to celebrate World Atlatl Day on Saturday, June 1st. This unique event offers a chance to test your prehistoric hunting skills with an atlatl demonstration conducted by S.A.L.T. (Study of Ancient Lifeways and Technologies) from 9 a.m. to noon.

What is an Atlatl?

The atlatl is an ancient weapon that predates the bow and arrow. Used worldwide for thousands of years, it consists of a stick with a hook on the end to hold a dart or spear. This simple yet effective tool increases the distance, speed, and force of the projectile, making it a powerful hunting weapon.
