STEM, Sports, and Splash-tastic Fun! 🎾🔬🏊♂️
Attention, Ahwatukee parents—your search for the ultimate summer camp ends now. The Ahwatukee Community Swim & Tennis Center is rolling out a summer experience that’s equal parts brainpower, athleticism, and splashy fun. Designed for kids ages 6-12, this one-of-a-kind camp kicks off next month and promises to keep your little adventurers entertained, educated, and energized all summer long.
“This dynamic camp combines STEM-based learning with sports and daily swimming to promote both intellectual growth and healthy lifestyles,” says center director Susan Rast. Translation? Your kids will be too busy building volcanoes, coding robots, and perfecting cannonballs to even think about being bored.
Located at 4700 E. Warner Road , just west of 48th Street, the center is ready to transform your child’s summer into an unforgettable adventure. With seven themed weeks packed with hands-on activities, special guest speakers, and plenty of pool time, it’s the perfect blend of brains, brawn, and bubbles.
What Makes This Camp So Awesome?
STEM Adventures: Where Curiosity Meets Creativity
Each week revolves around a unique theme designed to spark curiosity and inspire young minds. Guided by Marni Anbar , a STEM curriculum consultant and co-creator of Kyrene School District’s Discover Room, campers will dive into interactive projects that make science, technology, engineering, and math come alive.
And here’s the cherry on top: Special guest speakers from STEM fields will drop by to share their expertise and inspire the next generation of innovators. Think of it as show-and-tell—but way cooler.
Sports + Swimming = Nonstop Action
Because no kid wants to sit still all day, the camp balances mental stimulation with physical activity. Campers will participate in a variety of sports and enjoy lifeguard-supervised swimming every single day. Whether they’re racing across the court or floating in the pool, they’ll stay active, engaged, and cool (literally) under the Arizona sun.
Seven Weeks, Seven Epic Themes
Here’s a sneak peek at what each week has in store:
- Forces of Nature (June 2-6):
Get ready to erupt with excitement! Campers will create volcanoes, build tornadoes in a bottle, design seismographs, and learn about lightning. It’s like Bill Nye meets Mother Nature. - Dinozone (June 9-13):
Step back in time to the age of dinosaurs. Kids will dig into fossils, explore prehistoric ecosystems, and uncover how scientists piece together Earth’s ancient past. Roar-some! - Galaxy Exploration (June 16-20):
Blast off into space with ASU’s inflatable STARLab planetarium . Campers will map constellations, decode mythology, and journey through the solar system—all without leaving Ahwatukee. - iRobot (June 23-27):
Future engineers, unite! This week is all about coding and robotics. Kids will build recycled robots, program tiny Ozobots, and learn the difference between robots and machines. Move over, Wall-E. - The Deep Sea (June 30–July 3):
Dive beneath the waves to explore the mysteries of the ocean floor. From bizarre sea creatures to extreme underwater conditions, this session is full of surprises. - Destination Imagination (July 7-11):
Creativity takes center stage as campers tackle challenges like egg drops, marshmallow towers, and skit performances. They’ll even invent gadgets to solve everyday problems. Who knows? Maybe one of them will invent something we’ll see on Shark Tank someday. - Space Week (July 14-18):
Back by popular demand, the STARLab returns to teach campers about weather patterns, ocean currents, and time zones. It’s another cosmic adventure you won’t want to miss.
